justify;\">The title \u201cfundamental theology\u201d can signify many different things. Especially in the Anglo-Saxon language area there is often a potential for misunderstanding, since the title is easily brought into relation with fundamentalism. This conception is not only related to the title <em>fundamental theology<\/em>, but also to the style and manner in which this discipline, i.e. its predecessor, <em>apologetics<\/em>, was used traditionally as \u201can art of self-defence\u201d. The basic difference from any form of fundamentalism consists in the fact that fundamentalism, generally, does not venture outside of the area that is considered obligatory within one&#8217;s own group, while Christian fundamental theology and apologetics, to say the least, have the intention to justify Christian faith on the horizon of rationality that is, in principle, shared by all people. In that sense, it is possible to present the basic ductus of fundamental theology that underlies it throughout the whole history of theology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit;\"><b><strong><span style=\"font-weight: inherit;
