University graduate study program (double-major).
Mode of study:
The graduate university study program in Theological and Religious Sciences (double-major) is conducted at the Institute of Religious Sciences as a full-time program in cooperation with Catholic University of Croatia.
Duration:
Two years, i.e. four semesters.
ECTS credits:
Upon completion of the program, students earn 120 ECTS credits.
Academic title awarded upon completion of the program:
Master of Theological and Religious Sciences (mag. sc. theol.-relig.)
Competencies acquired upon completion of the program
The competencies acquired upon completion of the double-major graduate program derive from the learning outcomes of the study program.
General learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- critically and objectively evaluate academic and professional literature in the field of religious sciences, and develop the skills necessary for conducting independent research and finding scientifically grounded answers to questions within specific study areas (religious education practice; pastoral and catechetical practice; church cultural heritage; diaconal/caritative activities/management of temporal goods and economic activities; ecumenical, interreligious, and intercultural dialogue)
- understand and evaluate human religiosity and religious phenomena in contemporary society
- develop and promote the synthesis of faith and culture within the specific circumstances in which the local Church lives and operates
- critically assess the relationship between theological-religious theory and ecclesiastical, religious, and social practice
- explain and evaluate the importance of activities connected with the mission of evangelization in the Church and in contemporary society
- discern and evaluate social activities aimed at promoting integral human development and solidarity-based humanism
- explain the possibilities and importance of applying acquired knowledge from theology and religious sciences in various areas of social, cultural, educational, and religious activity, as well as in the media and specialized publishing, for the purpose of promoting Christian culture
- present and explain the importance of professional cooperation in various ecclesiastical, social, and public institutions that take an interdisciplinary approach to the humanities and social sciences, especially topics related to the social teaching of the Church
- apply effective communication with individuals and groups
- independently research and present, in written form, a topic related to the chosen module through the use of relevant literature and appropriate scientific methodology
Opportunities for further study
Upon completion of the graduate university study program in Theological and Religious Sciences, students are eligible to enroll in postgraduate university studies, primarily within the social sciences and humanities. Conditions for continuing studies in other fields are determined by the higher education institution offering the program.
After completing the program, students may enroll at the Faculty in postgraduate university licentiate and doctoral programs in one of seven specializations, subject to the completion of any required differential examinations.
